Parts of the US, including California, are bracing for record-high temperatures with around 36 million people at risk, signaling the need to prepare for a deadly heatwave. Despite uncontrolled climate change trends, heatwaves in the US and other regions are expected to continue breaking records for decades. Redding, a city in northern California, experienced a record-breaking temperature of 119°F (48°C). The heat dome covering California is expected to persist for the next week, maintaining scorching conditions. Additionally, 36 million more Americans are on heatwave alert, while the early arrival of the Atlantic hurricane season sees Tropical Storm Beryl headed towards Texas, potentially intensifying into a hurricane upon landfall.
