Record High Average Temperature in April! Over 400 People in Taiwan Hospitalized for Heat Injuries

Reported 8 months ago

The global average temperature has hit a new high for 12 consecutive months, with Taiwan just experiencing its hottest April on record. Over 400 people in Taiwan have already been hospitalized for heat injuries, and the Central Weather Bureau forecasts that temperatures may be warmer than usual this year with less rainfall, contributing to the intense heat. The Ministry of Health and Welfare estimates that the number of heat-related hospital visits in June will surpass last year's, with April already seeing a significant increase in cases compared to the previous year. Meteorologist Lin Ding-yi warns that the upcoming week will continue to bring high temperatures and afternoon thunderstorms across Taiwan, urging the public to stay hydrated and prevent heat injuries. On June 23 alone, there were 43.2 heat injury hospitalizations, totaling 413 cases so far in June, surpassing last year's number at the same point. If the hot weather persists, it is predicted that June's total heat injury hospitalizations will exceed last year's.
