As of June, the number of retirement savers with over $1 million in their 401(k)s or IRAs has surged by 16%, reaching a historic high of 595,000, according to Fidelity. This increase comes after a challenging first quarter, demonstrating that many savers maintained their contributions despite market fluctuations. Average balances in 401(k) accounts also rose significantly, with the average balance reaching $137,800. Factors contributing to this growth include adherence to a long-term saving strategy and increased contributions among older savers.
