Consuming carbohydrates can increase visceral fat and lead to fatty liver. Dr. T. Kurihara from Tokyo's Nihonbashi Kurihara Clinic suggests a 'slightly reduced carb' weight loss approach instead of extreme carb cutting, recommending a reduction of around 20% in carb intake. This can be achieved by slightly decreasing staple foods like rice by a few bites, replacing large bowls with smaller ones. Other tips include reducing main carbohydrate intake by 1-2%, consuming protein-rich foods, increasing dietary fiber, limiting sweets and fruits, and maintaining regular meal times to avoid extreme hunger-induced overeating and rapid carb absorption.
