Regan Smith broke her own American record in the 100m backstroke by clocking 57.51 seconds at the Speedo Grand Challenge in Irvine, California, three weeks before the Olympic Trials. She remains the second-fastest woman in history in this event, with Australian Kaylee McKeown holding the world record. The U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials are upcoming in June, where the top two swimmers in most events will make the team for Paris.
