French automaker Renault introduced a new electric sports car in their lineup, signaling a shift towards premium EVs to compete with Chinese car manufacturers and capture a share in the high-performing electric vehicle market. Renault plans to release seven electric models under their Alpine brand, starting with the Alpine electric A290, aimed at offering competitive pricing against luxury brands like Porsche and Ferrari. Despite challenges like reduced subsidies and stiff competition, Renault is optimistic about the growth potential of its new EV range, projecting significant sales by 2030 both in and outside of Europe.
