Renowned 36-year-old Taiwanese professional mountaineer Zhang Yuanzhi tragically fell to his death while climbing in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France. His family confirmed the incident and is en route to bring his body back to Taiwan. Close friend and writer Chen Dezhen mourned the loss, describing Zhang as selfless, kind, and brave, expressing that a part of himself dies with Zhang. The climbing accident occurred on a route of level D+, 4 (equivalent to YDS 5.9-, AI3, M4) on June 27th around 7 AM. Chen expressed deep sadness over Zhang's premature departure, highlighting Zhang's noble ideals in a conformist society. Zhang's untimely death is seen as a significant loss to the climbing community and society at large, with Chen unable to accept the reality and expressing eternal longing for his departed friend.
