The famous compound restaurant 'Black Gold Alley' in Hualien, known as the most beautiful restaurant in the city, has announced its closure due to being unable to withstand the impacts of 2 earthquakes and the decline in tourist traffic. The century-old Japanese-style Western house building housed the restaurant, offering dishes like tender grilled onion-salt Matsusaka pork, three-cup chicken, hot pot, and desserts. Despite recovering from the May earthquake, the restaurant could not sustain its operation anymore, leading to the decision to cease operations in September 2024.
