New research by University College London and the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health challenges common beliefs about female performance during menstruation. The study found that women experience fluctuations in mental agility throughout their menstrual cycle, performing better with faster responses and fewer mistakes during their periods compared to other phases. Despite feeling worse on their periods, including lower mood and physical symptoms, the study suggests that women's cognitive performance is not negatively affected during menstruation.
