A report raised concerns about the possibility of cadmium levels exceeding safety standards in oysters from Matsu, triggering worries about food safety. Cadmium is a harmful heavy metal that can negatively impact human health if consumed over the long term, leading to widespread attention. In response to the accusations of excessive cadmium in oysters, the Matsu County Industry Development Department and Health Bureau immediately launched an investigation and swiftly responded. They strengthened monitoring of oyster farms and conducted sampling inspections of oysters on the market. Results showed that all sampled oysters from Matsu met national safety standards, with no instances of exceeding limits. The Health Bureau emphasized regular inspections of aquatic products in Matsu to ensure they meet safety standards, reassuring consumers about the safety of consuming them.
