A restaurant in Beijing presented diners with detailed 'cow IDs' for the beef they were about to eat, stating 'what you are eating is him/her' sparking heated debates online. The ID card included information like the cow's gender, breed, age, origin, and even a colored photo. The post generated over 5,000 comments with some finding the gesture cruel and unable to eat while others empathized and couldn't bear to consume the meat after such detailed identification. The restaurant has now stopped issuing the IDs, clarifying it was a local initiative and not a national brand activity.
