FTNN News Network reported on June 14, 2024, that Chinese actor Hu Ge and the director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Shanghai, Zhong Xiaomin, arrived in Taiwan on the same flight. The Mainland Affairs Council clarified that there were no restrictions on the itinerary for Chinese artists visiting Taiwan and dismissed rumors about prohibitions related to certain topics. Former Taipei Mayor Hao Longbin, who initiated the Twin City Forum, expressed dissatisfaction with the Mainland Affairs Council's monitoring of Chinese officials and artists, highlighting that they were confined to their hotels without the freedom to explore like Chinese visitors in Taiwan experienced during his official visits to China, emphasizing the need for mutual respect and confidence in cross-strait relations. He also mentioned positive interactions between Shanghai and Taipei during the 2017 World University Games as examples of friendly cooperation. However, Hao Longbin remains skeptical about the prospects for the Cross-Strait Forum in light of current tensions, urging goodwill and fairness in interactions between Taiwan and mainland China.
