Retail sales fell 0.2% in February from January, affected by tariff worries, rising unemployment, and severe weather, according to the NRF. Although there was a significant year-over-year increase of over 3%, consumer hesitance around inflation led to increased savings and decreased spending on non-essential goods. Recent data also showed a drop in consumer confidence and January retail sales were nearly 1% lower compared to December.
