Retailers Anticipate Cargo Surge at U.S. Ports

Reported about 1 month ago

Retailers are predicting a surge in cargo imports at U.S. ports this summer, attributed to a 90-day tariff pause in the trade conflict between China and the U.S. The National Retail Federation's Global Port Tracker indicates that many retailers are resuming imports, after previously reducing orders due to high tariffs. While export volumes are expected to rise during the peak back-to-school and holiday shopping seasons, significant declines in cargo volumes are projected for the latter half of 2025 unless further tariff reductions occur.
