A 48-year-old retired engineer from Malaysia, Stephen Siaw, came to Taiwan for vacation in April and ended up at a bar in Taichung. After chatting with the bar owner about motorcycles and admiring the owner's KTM 390 DUKE, Siaw, who was drunk and not wearing a helmet, impulsively rode off on the motorcycle. He was quickly stopped by nearby police, tested positive for alcohol, and was sentenced to 3 months in prison or a fine of 90,000 NT. Unfortunately, the incident also led to the bar owner's beloved motorcycle being confiscated for 2 years.
