Retired General Not Optimistic: Taiwan Lacks Foundation for 'Asymmetric Warfare'

Reported 8 months ago

Since President Lai Ching-te took office, cross-strait relations have not improved, causing concerns in the opposition camp. Retired Lieutenant General Zeng Jinling, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff and head of the Veterans Affairs Council, emphasized in an interview with Hong Kong media that the cross-strait issue must be resolved politically, not militarily. He pointed out that Taiwan lacks the foundation for 'asymmetric warfare' due to its historical focus on economic development over military preparedness. Zeng stressed that Taiwan's leaders must handle cross-strait issues appropriately to effectively address them through political means.
