According to Reuters, foreign companies are considering relocating Taiwanese employees out of mainland China following Beijing's indication that 'stubborn' Taiwan independence activists could face the death penalty. Some multinational corporations and Taiwanese businesses operating in China are evaluating their legal risks and exposure due to the new guidelines, which may interpret actions such as social media posts or voting in Taiwan elections as support for independence activities. This has raised concerns for the approximately 177,000 Taiwanese nationals working in China, many of whom are employed by multinational companies for their language skills and familiarity with Chinese culture.
