Revised Regulations to Tighten SRF Emission Standards by Ministry of the Environment

Reported 8 months ago

The Ministry of the Environment announced intentions to amend regulations to strengthen the control of SRF emissions. The move comes in response to loose regulations in the past that allowed for potential mixing of SRF sources with chlorine-containing plastics like PVC, leading to dioxin emissions during incineration. The revised measures will classify SRF based on chlorine content, prescribe high-spec air pollution control equipment, and enhance control of emissions derived from resource recovery fuels. The amendments aim to set standards similar to those for large waste incineration plants, specifying fuel use requirements, and emissions standards for pollutants like dioxins, particulates, sulfur oxides, and nitrogen oxides.
