Rhasidat Adeleke, 21, secured the silver medal in the women's 400 meters at the European Championships in Rome, setting a new Irish record of 49.07 seconds and narrowly missing the gold which was taken by Poland's Natalia Kaczmarek with a time of 48.98 seconds. Adeleke expressed excitement over her performance and looks ahead to the Paris Games, aiming to build on her achievements and improve in the upcoming Olympics. Other Irish athletes also had notable performances at the championships, with Andrew Coscoran qualifying for the men's 1500m final but teenager Nick Griggs missing out, and Phil Healy and Louise Shanahan falling short of qualification in their respective events.
