The European Parliament elections ended with extreme right-wing parties making significant gains in France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Austria, with initial polls still favoring the transnational party 'European People’s Party' as the largest bloc. Despite the rise of right-wing parties, the centrists still hold around 400 seats out of 720 in the European Parliament, and the President of the European Commission, Vonderleyen, is likely to be reelected. French President Macron's party suffered a heavy defeat to the National Rally in France, prompting him to dissolve the National Assembly and call for early elections to allow the people to determine the future of the parliament.
