The Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported an increase in cases of congenital syphilis, particularly among newborns. The CDC warned of a gradual rise in sexually transmitted infections like syphilis and gonorrhea, especially among two specific age groups, with a significant increase noted among the 15-24 age group. While overall cases of syphilis and gonorrhea have seen a slight increase compared to the previous year, it's crucial for individuals, particularly women and young adults, to be aware of symptoms like painless ulcers, rashes, pus-filled discharge, and urinary discomfort, as prompt treatment is essential to prevent complications and further transmission. The CDC emphasized the importance of regular screenings, timely medical care, and prevention measures to combat the spread of STIs.
