Reported 12 months ago

According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare statistics in 2022, suicide ranks second as the cause of death among 15-24-year-olds, with a suicide mortality rate of 10.7 per 100,000 people. The suicide death rate among Taiwanese teenagers is rising annually. Psychiatrist Chen Yu-wen from Taipei Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare shared cases reflecting 13 common characteristics of suicidal teenagers, emphasizing the importance of attention to youth mental health. By providing early medical treatment, appropriate help can be obtained. Communication adjustments and understanding between parents and teenagers can also alleviate these issues and help teens navigate through challenging times, ultimately leading to smiles on their faces in follow-up consultations. It's important to recognize the various pressures that contribute to the rise in teenage suicide, including emotional distress, academic pressure, bullying, and more complex factors beyond the surface.
