Rising Water Activities in Taoyuan: Measures Taken After Nearly 100 Drowning Incidents in 10 Years Revealed

As summer approaches, the number of people engaging in water activities is increasing in Taoyuan City, leading to around 100 drowning incidents in the past 10 years. The hotspots for drowning include Yong'an Fishing Port, Xiayun Creek, Zhubei Fishing Port, and Tiemu Waterfall. The city government has intensified promotion and set up electronic fences before the holidays. The only legal water activity area in Taoyuan, Small Wulai Yunai Creek, will have professional lifeguards on duty and daily inspections conducted by the Taoyuan Tourism Bureau. Various measures are being implemented to prevent drowning incidents, including setting up safety facilities and providing swimming lessons in schools.
