Risks Identified in Taipei-Pingtung/ Zuoying Case for High-Speed Rail Extension, Evaluation by Railway Bureau Ongoing

Reported about 1 year ago

The possibility of operational risks in the future for the Taipei-Pingtung route via Zuoying has been raised, with concerns that trains departing from Zuoying Station might be stuck in the base if there are issues with the switches connecting to Pingtung's railway. The Railway Bureau is considering revisiting the previously assessed Kaohsiung route according to Director General Yang Zhengjun. The extension project was initially approved as the Zuoying case, but deliberations are underway for the Kaohsiung case given its significance as a transportation hub. Various political figures have expressed the importance of integrating high-speed rail into Kaohsiung Station for regional development.
