River Sub, Subway franchisee in San Antonio, Texas files for bankruptcy

Reported 11 months ago

River Sub, a Texas-based 48-unit Subway franchisee, declared bankruptcy after losing a legal battle and facing consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. The bankruptcy came shortly after a rejected appeal in a death lawsuit involving a former manager. Founded in 1991, River Sub aimed to operate Subway restaurants in diverse markets but was severely impacted by the pandemic. Despite the need to close some stores, River Sub remains the largest Subway multi-unit franchise group in south central Texas, viewing the bankruptcy as a strategic move to restructure and recover from setbacks.
