Rivian is laying off around 150 employees, its second small workforce reduction this year, as it prepares for the launch of the more affordable R2 SUV. The layoffs mainly impact the company’s commercial team, and affected employees are encouraged to apply for other positions. This follows a previous cut of about 1% of its workforce in June, as the company continues to adjust its staff in anticipation of the SUV's release next year.
