It was reported that the Food and Drug Administration Director Wu Hsiu-mei, who has been in office for nearly 7 years, will step down at the end of June amidst criticism over various issues related to the epidemic and food safety. The rumored successor is Zhuang Sheng-Hong, the Dean of the School of Pharmacy at China Medical University. Zhuang confirmed earlier that he was approached about the position over a month ago and will assume office on July 1st, while Wu has not responded. The Ministry of Health and Welfare Minister refuted the personnel changes rumor, deeming it unfounded.
