Russia and North Korea Draw Closer? North Korean Official Media Signal Switches from Chinese Satellite to Russian Satellite

Reported 12 months ago

On June 19, 2024, Russian President Putin visited North Korea and walked in the garden of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in Pyongyang with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. North Korean state-owned television channel had been using a Chinese satellite for signal transmission, but South Korea's Unification Ministry discovered on July 1 that this has been switched to a Russian satellite. This move is believed to reflect the strengthening relationship between Russia and North Korea, following the recent signing of a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between the two leaders.
