Tatyana Bakalchuk, Russia's wealthiest woman known for founding Wildberries, has shifted her focus to developing a payment system to help insulate the Russian economy from sanctions. This project, approved by President Putin and overseen by Maxim Oreshkin, aims to create an alternative to the Swift network excluded by major Russian banks post-Ukraine invasion. The initiative may boost Russia's GDP and expand business with Russia-friendly countries, but could also raise the risk of Bakalchuk facing sanctions from the US and EU.
