Amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, reports indicate that Russian authorities may be pressuring African students and migrant workers residing in the country to join the military under threat of deportation if they refuse, in an effort to bolster their forces. Foreign soldiers, particularly from African countries and Nepal, have reportedly increased in numbers, with some being coerced to choose between deportation or enlistment, mimicking tactics used by the Wagner mercenary group. While some manage to bribe officials to avoid service, others are lured in with promises of high salaries, only to find themselves on the frontlines of the war.
