Russian Satellite Breaks Apart ISS Astronauts Evacuate

The Russian satellite Resurs-P1, decommissioned in 2022, unexpectedly disintegrated into hundreds of pieces threatening the International Space Station (ISS) on June 27. Nine astronauts on board had to seek refuge in the spacecraft as the debris approached. Although the situation has since normalized, the incident has highlighted the risks posed by space debris and the importance of space sustainability.
