Ryan Salame sentenced to prison for involvement with collapsed crypto exchange FTX

Reported 4 months ago

Ryan Salame, a former FTX executive, has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for his role in the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange. Salame pleaded guilty to illegal U.S. campaign contributions and operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business. His sentence includes 7 1/2 years in prison and three years of supervised release, which was more than what prosecutors requested. Salame cooperated with prosecutors but was not a major part of the case against former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried. Three other FTX executives are also awaiting sentencing for their involvement in the exchange's downfall.
