With the summer vacation and hot weather, people are flocking to beaches and rivers for water activities in New Taipei. To ensure the safety of the public, Mayor Hou Yu-ih supervised water safety and rescue drills at Yan-yang Valley in Sanxia District and attended a civilian rescue team commendation ceremony at Da Ban Gen Forest Hot Spring Hotel. The city employs over 15,000 personnel at 39 water activity spots annually, especially focusing on Da Bao Stream where there have been zero drowning incidents for 6 years. New Taipei collaborates with the Central Weather Bureau to send flash flood alerts at 9 streams, urging people to stay away from dangerous areas. Safety measures include real-time monitoring systems and evacuations during heavy rainfalls to prevent accidents. Citizens are reminded to be vigilant with weather changes during water activities.
