The San Jose Sharks have named Ryan Warsofsky as their new head coach, succeeding David Quinn. General manager Mike Grier praised Warsofsky's coaching success at various levels and his rapport with the team. Warsofsky inherits a struggling team that has recently focused on rebuilding, highlighted by the upcoming selection of Hobey Baker winner Macklin Celebrini. The 36-year-old previously coached the defense and penalty kill for the Sharks and led the Chicago Wolves to the AHL's best regular-season record and Calder Cup victory in 2022.
