South African chemicals and fuel producer Sasol Ltd. announced that its earnings will be severely impacted by $3 billion worth of impairments across its American and South African operations. The company indicated that the basic loss per share for the fiscal year ending June 30 is expected to be significantly lower than the previous year's profit due to major write-downs in the value of its chemicals and refining units.
