Scam Group Abusing Accounts of Social Welfare Organizations

Reported about 1 year ago

In an exclusive report on July 4th, 2024, at 10:03 pm, it was revealed that a scam group in Taiwan is targeting accounts of social welfare organizations to collect donations as a tool for fraud. The group tricks people into making donations by falsely claiming they have won prizes, leading to individuals unknowingly transferring money to the fraudsters. This has caused distress for multiple social welfare organizations and led to risks of their donation accounts being flagged as high-risk. Multiple organizations, including Taiwan Leopard Cat Conservation Association, Taiwan Cognitive Function Enhancement Association, Taiwan Love Home Association, Ruichi Social Welfare Foundation, Yoyo Charity Foundation, Taiwan Lezuo Creative Association, Eden Foundation, First Social Welfare Foundation, Fubon Charity Foundation, Women's Rescue Foundation, and Puremind Youth Caring Foundation, have been victimized. The Criminal Investigation Bureau warns the public not to believe unsolicited messages claiming winnings and not to transfer money to designated accounts. They advise seeking verification by calling 165 or 110 and sharing any scam messages encountered online with the Criminal Investigation Bureau's 'Let's Speak Out Against Scams Together' Facebook platform to prevent further harm to others.
