Scam Group Uses Pinhole Jacket to Monitor Face-to-Face Exchange for Avoiding Internal Frauds

Reported about 1 year ago

Police intercepted a driver who was about to meet the victim face-to-face in Kaohsiung, after a citizen mistakenly joined a fake investment group and was scammed 1.5 million NT dollars. The driver arriving for the exchange was arrested as police discovered a hidden agenda - the driver wore a black jacket on a hot day and zipped it all the way up, which felt unusually hot and suspicious. The jacket had a pinhole camera for remote monitoring to prevent internal fraud and minimize the risk of detection by authorities during raids. Police vowed to crack down on new tactics and closely investigate the scammers, emphasizing the difficulty of catching on-site drivers and tracing upstream handlers involved in the scams.
