Scholar Liu Baijun highlighted the potential infiltration of 'Mazu Temples' as United Front bases during a forum held by the DPP China Department. Research showed that the unstable believers at urban Mazu Temples in Kaohsiung have been influenced by the United Front. By analyzing voting data from 2014 to 2020 elections, it was found that some Mazu Temple-located villages turned 'red' due to Chinese United Front influence, impacting voter support. Liu Baijun expressed concern over the infiltration of temples by the United Front, questioning the Communist Party's discussion of beliefs despite being atheists. This underscores the ongoing battle to protect democracy in Taiwan against subtle but impactful United Front tactics.
