Scholars Warn that Using LINE for United Front Work is a Lengthy Process, '1 out of 10 Messages Will be Infected with Fake News and Turn Red'

Reported 8 months ago

Scholars revealed that some village chiefs are being influenced by United Front Work through LINE group chats. During a seminar on 'Chinese Interference and Infiltration in Taiwan's Elections through United Front Work', experts discussed how China uses various means to engage village chiefs, leading to instances of 'dual-homing chiefs'. Researchers found that chiefs with Chinese backgrounds and party affiliations tend to have higher percentages of agreeing with certain political stances, indicating a form of infiltration. Scholars emphasized the need for vigilance and prevention against such influence, as even just 1 out of every 10 messages in LINE groups can spread fake news and propaganda effectively.
