The scorching heat continues this week with temperatures reaching 38-39 degrees in various regions of Taiwan. Dr. Lin De-en, a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from National Taiwan University, warns of another week of intense heat due to the influence of southwest winds and Pacific high pressure extensions. The Central Weather Bureau predicts a high probability of heavy rain this afternoon in northern central areas, Yilan, Hualien, and mountainous regions. Yesterday saw the highest temperature in Taimali, Taitung, at 41.0 degrees Celsius, breaking Taiwan's record for the highest temperature this year. Starting today, people should prepare for another week of scorching heat, with temperatures ranging from 33 to 36 degrees in most areas and possibly exceeding 36 degrees locally. Enjoying cooler gadgets like cooling towels is recommended for venturing out in the blazing weather.
