A former secretary, Grace Groner, invested $180 in three shares of her employer Abbott's stock in 1935 and reinvested her dividends for 75 years, ultimately growing her investment to $7.2 million by the time of her death in 2010. Abbott recently highlighted her remarkable story on their website, noting that Groner's shares would be worth over $28 million today. She gifted her fortune to support students at her alma mater, Lake Forest College.
