On the morning of June 30, 2024, at the crime scene, the police cordoned off the area with red, blue, and white tape to gather evidence on the deceased suspect. The incident occurred at the Embassy of Israel in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The suspect asked for directions to a museum at the embassy guardroom and then shot an officer with a crossbow. Despite being struck in the neck with an arrow, the officer managed to return fire and killed the suspect. Serbian authorities labeled the attack as a terrorist act and have made preventive arrests in the area. The injured officer underwent surgery to remove the arrow and is now in stable condition, under observation in the hospital. Serbian President Vucic visited the officer and deemed the attack as terrorism, ordering a hunt for other suspects. Another suspect was arrested in a nearby residential area with connections to foreign terrorist groups. The attacker, identified as Jovik, a Serbian man who converted to Islam, had ties to Wahhabi sect of Islam. The incident led to the closure of the Israeli Embassy.
