On July 2, 2024, Longhua University's Associate Professor Lin Zongxin and his students Li Chuanting, Yang Shanghua, Wu Chengzhe, and Lin Jialing from Xinzhuang High School participated in the 2024 Shanghai International Invention and Innovation Exhibition, where their work on 'A Method for Preparing Copper Alloy Thin Films for Semiconductor Manufacturing Processes' won the gold medal. This victory marks their second gold medal this year after winning at the PiENVEX International Engineering Innovation and Invention Exhibition in Malaysia, showcasing their outstanding research and development capabilities. The exhibition, organized by the Shanghai Invention Association, is a three-day event featuring top global innovations, offering opportunities for market expansion, technology exchange, professional evaluation, product showcase, brand promotion, and business cooperation. Professor Lin's team's work focuses on preparing copper alloy thin films using a co-sputtering method, boasting properties like low resistance, low leakage current, good adhesion, oxidation resistance to inhibit copper-silicon and copper-tin reactions, antimicrobial properties, and applications in various fields like copper wiring, flip-chip soldering, heat dissipation, and antimicrobial medical devices, demonstrating significant commercial potential. This is Professor Lin's second gold medal at the Shanghai International Invention and Innovation Exhibition, having previously won in 2019 with his work on 'Copper Plating Layer with Good Thermal Conductivity and Illuminance and Its Preparation Method'. Lin's research aims to enhance copper stability without using barrier layers by doping trace amounts of substances into the copper plating layer, with hopes of collaborating with companies for practical process applications. As a frequent winner at major international invention exhibitions, Professor Lin was awarded the 19th IIP International Distinguished Inventor Guoguang Medal last year and was recognized by the President in April for his outstanding achievements. Longhua University's president mentioned that the Semiconductor Engineering Department focuses on cultivating practical talents in semiconductor technology, specializing in midstream device process and downstream packaging testing skills to meet the industry's needs for semiconductor professionals.
