The Mainland Affairs Council emphasized that the Shanghai Mayor is considered a deputy and holds a low-ranking position. Taipei Mayor Hao Hsiao-ou stated that they will still follow the usual practice of inviting representatives from Shanghai. The forum is seen as a crucial official communication platform in the current tense cross-strait relationship, with the 16th Cross-Strait Forum set to take place in Xiamen, China, on the 15th. The council expressed displeasure at local governments participating in united front activities, while the Nationalist Party stressed the importance of communication to ease tension. They also touched upon the need for adhering to regulations and international perceptions to safeguard national interests.
