Shareholders Favor Governance Changes Over Environmental and Social Proposals in ESG Voting

Reported 2 months ago

Recent analysis shows that shareholders are increasingly supporting 'G' in ESG, prioritizing corporate governance changes over the environmental and social aspects. Out of 154 governance proposals voted on this year, 38 were successful, with many aimed at simplifying voting requirements for significant company actions. In contrast, only two environmental proposals gained majority backing and just one social proposal passed. This trend reflects a growing preference for governance adjustments while demonstrating hesitation towards more stringent environmental and social commitments.
