Shein has expressed commitment to address sustainability and ethical labor practices upon entering the British Retail Consortium (BRC), according to the industry body's CEO. This move comes as Shein prepares for a London listing and faces opposition over alleged labor malpractices and its import tax exemption in the UK. The Chinese-founded company aims to enhance governance and compliance in its supply chain and has made its Modern Slavery Statement available on its UK website. Shein had faced challenges with its IPO attempt in the US and is now a member of the BRC, which represents major retailers in Britain. BRC CEO emphasized the importance of engaging in industry-related issues, including sustainability and ethical labor, and clarified that the BRC's role is not to regulate or endorse individual members' actions.
