On June 22, 2024, at 1:17 am, in Da Hu Park in Neihu, Taipei, a Shiba Inu was witnessed by a passerby biting a wild mallard duck to death. The video was posted online, and witnesses criticized the dog's owner for only lightly tapping to stop the attack, allowing the dog to harm an innocent life. People passing by were frustrated that the owner didn't take more direct action to intervene, with concerns about the ecological impact and safety of children in the park. The public hopes for stronger regulations enforced by the government to prevent similar incidents in the future.
