Shihmen Reservoir Water Level Reaches 37.3%: First Crop Season Can Be Smoothly Irrigated

Following several rounds of rain during the rainy season, as of June 12, 2024, at 10 AM, the water level at Shihmen Reservoir has risen to 7,655 tons, with a water storage rate of 37.3%. The Northern Region Water Resources Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs stated that the current water supply is stable, and the first crop season of the year 113 is expected to proceed with irrigation and harvesting smoothly under the cooperation of various departments. Although the reservoir is not yet at 40% capacity, plans are in place for managing potential typhoon-related floodwaters and fulfilling next year's water demand. Water supply in the Hsinchu region from the Touqian River, Baoshan, and Bao'er Reservoirs is sufficient, with the water situation reported as good. The Northern Region Water Resources Department also mentioned the possibility of afternoon mountain rain in mid-June and plans to implement water-saving measures and artificial rainfall to ensure uninterrupted water supply for various uses.
