Yemen's Houthi Rebels Attack Ship Carrying Grain Bound for Iran

Reported 4 months ago

A Greek-owned, Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier was attacked by Yemen's Houthi rebels while carrying a cargo of grain bound for Iran, the group's main supporter. The attack on the Laax is part of the rebels' ongoing campaign to target vessels associated with Iran, China, and Russia, with the French navy confirming the grain shipment's destination as Bandar Khomeini, Iran. The Houthis have intensified their attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, with over 50 incidents reported since November, while also claiming to have shot down a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone in Yemen.
