US and Canadian officials are investigating after a 689-foot ship collided with an underwater object and started taking on water in Lake Superior. The bulk carrier was carrying taconite when the incident occurred southwest of Isle Royale. Half of the crew has been removed, and the ship is anchored in Thunder Bay awaiting further inspection to determine the cause of hull damage before being brought to a dock for repairs.
